Hi T + T. Thanks for this contribution - Your core premise is so important! It's a really interesting idea although I am wondering about the dancing piece -- would be "interesting" and awkward for parents and teachers to be dancing in in the same space. The idea of doing some sort of art project together is intriguing -- do you have any specific ideas for a project? Also, can you share ideas regarding recognition events?
Camille -- Thanks for sharing this idea. I like the idea of reformatting back to school nights but I worry that parents might get bored? or that the night would last too long. Perhaps something like TED talks would make the evening more efficient or perhaps parents could access videos of teachers? Trying to empathize with all parties involved with the goal of fun and understanding is a good core point.
Vidya. Thanks for sharing this idea! I think it's a great idea to think about play and learning in different spaces. Your idea has me thinking about how teachers could do projects with students -- like custom designed placemats for learning math or something -- and then having parents work with their children at dinner time to solve fun riddles or problems. I can see someone making lots of money from the production of placemats or toys for learning in restaurants... Do you have a specific idea? THANKS! Paul
