Oh thank you! I would like to start with the New York times 360 news channel which allows students to interact with news broadcasts via virtual reality. Seeing current events in first person is a good way to start building the individual's curiosity and assessing their empathetic stance toward others. Then transition into group lead activities to teach empathy and standards and then rounding it out with independent assignments where students can record their own empathetic positions and come together to discuss.
As to parts of the world silly as it sounds I love Asia and Latin America those continents are so vast and complex that I would like to start there and work through specific areas around the globe undergoing cultural or economic upheaval/change today such as India or eastern Europe https://www.nytimes.com/video/the-daily-360
