I suppose one practical way of looking at passion-sourcing would be the magnet school model, but on steroids. Implementing this type of model would involve various stakeholders throughout the district, from the administration to the teacher's union as well as parents and community members. At the core, however, would be a school whose mission was to develop and promote the skills and knowledge in ________________________ (insert passion), and that the people involved in the school would be brought together because they all shared the same passion.
This idea is tapping into what I was referring to as passion sourcing. But instead of trying to bring people together from different schools, place them in the same school! That way, if these folks are working at the same school site, collaboration can happen at anytime, whether it was a 5-minute brainstorm in front of the bathroom or a designated weekly PD.
