I am in the process of discovering teaching media to young, gifted and disadvantaged youth. I teach at Mt. Pleasant High School located on the far edge of Silicon Valley in an area known as the East Side. This area of San José includes the largest neighborhoods of working-class Mexican and Mexican Americans in San José, the 10th largest city in the U.S. I hope to empower my students by fostering their creativity and their ability to creating art that strives to address poverty and racism and forge a better life for themselves and their families.
Lisa, nice to see you are as committed and passionate about igniting and bring resource to underserved areas. I did not know of the cardboard challenge. It is so great to see that the cardboard challenge came out of Caine's inspiring Arcade. I had forgotten about that amazing story of Caine. I am now cooking up some ideas for the ideate phase.
