I am currently enjoying Act Two of my career supporting educators and parents -especially at the Pre-K and elementary school grades - encouraging teaching practices that revitalize or sustain every child’s innate desire to achieve. My passion is to ensure that when a child is learning, it feels like and it is, their mission, rather than an assignment.
Yes! Building on strengths is key! Such an important concept to follow through on. How much time is actually provided for students to recognize and express their personal strengths? Would love to see how this idea could develop further!
"Students ...should be asked about what they're curious about, and given chances to pursue those interests." Yes indeed - what might happen if time and the means were provided for students to tell us what THEY CAN DO. Wouldn't it help them to realize what they are capable of, (metacognition), which in turn builds character?
Hi Anna, I just added my evaluation. Love getting behind this idea having lived the enrollment process thru my own children and through the lives of the many H.S. students I taught. With all the challenges young people face in H.S. your idea is a wonderful, much needed solution. Instead of throwing up obstacles this could help light up the road for their upcoming journey. They can focus on what is essential - how to present themselves and contemplate what, where and how will the next years of my life unfold? Thanks for your work! Angelo
