I work in public health. There are two big parts of my job. One part is to make sense of heatlh priorities for our county. The second is to forge relationships across sectors--health, education, community development, business--to improve health. Our data indicate that children of color experience disproportionate burdens of poor outcomes in education, health and overall well-being. We need to find ways to engage kids in learning that builds resilience, life skills and leadership. Teachers who combine nature-based learning, design thinking and play can work magic in building "maker skills."
