After doing the empathy interview with one student and seeing what a big difference it seemed to make to him, I would love to be able to make more kids feel that same connection.  After brainstorming, I realized, “What better way to meet my students’ needs than to ask them what those needs are. So I’d like to pose a question and conduct a brainstorm session with them, “What would make you feel more connected and engaged at school?” 

Share insights you heard during your empathy work.

The student I worked with really seemed happier and so much more pleasant after our talk, willing to learn and participate, help and contribute. Before my Empathy interview he was quite the opposite.
