Based on our surveys and focus groups, we saw the need for finding new ways to connect parents to schools and to find ways to involve celebration and awards into our gatherings. Everyone loves a party!

Sometimes it helps to have the child present as an advocate for themselves but also to help bridge the language barrier between teachers and parents when the parent's first language is not that of the teacher!

Hi Nathan, So happy to see insights from the Si Se Puede team! Check out the post by Thomas Gilliford where he shares insights from staff. Very similar comments about conferences being awkward, scary, and not fun.

Nathan -- makes me wonder the culture and equity issues that may be different with Latino parents. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras and remember that there was so much reverence to the schools and teachers, that parents didn't ask a lot of questions. It was intimidating. This is such a good insight.
