A few years ago the government removed the option for schools to run parent days and take them out of the 190 days that we are meant to operate. Parent days allow for longer, meaningful interaction between the form tutor and a member of staff. We organised them so that parents could then see subject teachers later in the day. Teachers were fresh and happy to discuss strengths and areas for development in length, rather than shoehorning 5 minute discussions at the end of a 5 period day.
Parent days allow schools, students and parents to really discuss how things are going. So bring those back!
