Teachers and parents should bring baby and family photos to a meeting. Creating a window into what matters the most to them

Photo albums are ways for folks to connect with the past. It's also a window into what matters the most to someone. The idea is that both the teacher and parent can share their photo albums and also hear a story about the other's family and past. It makes things less awkward when you see a baby photo of someone.

I am a huge fan of digital learning portfolios and this would be a nice addition.  Some "homework" assignments could be to find and include family connections with school concepts.
