HERE IS OUR FINAL PITCH:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HlYhOH6ZPc

OVERVIEW: Students should have the opportunity to discuss their own learning through student led conferences. Here parents can hear straight from the student's mouth how they are feeling when they learn and why they may struggle or do well in some areas more than others.  Students can even go as far as discussing career goals and their plans for their future. This would help greatly with non English speaking families or with families where, in their culture, school may not be important. It would be great for parents to hear how their child feels about school as a whole!

Not new but student-led conferences are highly effective. Add in digital tours of learning to support discussions around what has been learned and what new goals can be collaboratively set.

Lache -- I have been following you and this idea for awhile and so impressed with all that you did to really understand what is possible with student led conferences. No doubt that your parents really lit up throughout this experience, and I can't wait to dig into your toolkit and share it more widely. You've really been an inspiration! Thank you!

In our classes for gifted students, we had student-led conferences at the beginning of the year for students to share their goals with their parents. It went very well! There were lots of awesome conversations between parents and their children.

You would be surprised at the conversations students are able to have with their parents about their own learning!

Lache,
The concept of student-led conferences really helps build leadership skills, engages the student and family by brining them together and would love to see an entire school do this. Can't wait to see where your idea goes!

That is my hope that we can start implementing this school wide very soon!

Hi Lache! Excited to be on the team! Looking forward to helping you build on the work that you've already accomplished. I talked with a teacher today who had a lot of success with the student-led concept. The problem seems to be that the entire school hasn't adopted the model yet. I'm interested in exploring how to get school-wide adoption.
