Internships allow students to gain responsibility, build their passion, and get real world experience. They get something on their resume, which can be helpful in terms of college applications, and future career paths. Since it's similar to a job, interns can get a "pre-job" experience that they would not be able to get elsewhere, along with connections from the company and/or industry.

Hi Selynna,

I agree, internships are a great way for students to discover and test future career paths while connecting with potential mentors in the "real world". You may want to team up with  Michele Meshover who is also thinking about bringing internship opportunities to high school students. Check out her post here --> https://collaborate.teachersguild.org/challenge/reach-higher-better-make-room-teachers-guild-college-journey-collaboration/ideate/internships-wanted

Hi Selynna  Consider fleshing out your idea more and reaching out to Lisa Abel-Palmieri and/or Ana Villegas.  The both have current ideas related to internships and out of school learning experiences.  Would love to help you expand on your ideas.  Thanks

The internships you mention are for HS students? If yes, can you elaborate some more? What does the HS needs to have in place to offer that?
