Many of the students I work with apply to and attend one of four colleges that are within an hour of the high school (the majority of college-going students begin at the local community college). While these students still live in a familiar community, many struggle with the additional responsibilities they must take on after high school graduation and do not persist in college. An alumni club that is advised by the high school college counselor would help these students build upon the connections and relationships that they developed in high school while giving them the support and information necessary to succeed.
High School Advisers lead Alumni Clubs at Local Colleges
High School advisers lead monthly lunch/dinner for alumni at local community/four-year colleges to build upon existing community.
