Make what we've learned from our students visible.

Reflecting on what our students have explicitly taught us about learning & then sharing it with our colleagues is relevant PD.

I learned more from observing "Maya", a 15 year old immigrant from the Micronesian Island, Chuuk State, navigate our large public high school (& rapidly assimilate to American culture!) than I had from YEARS of formal professional development experiences.

I wish I had the opportunity to make my learning visible to my teaching colleagues-- and to hear from other teachers about what their students are teaching them-- on more than just spontaneous occasions!

Kind of gets to the root of why a teacher exists. What good is PD that does not make us better at reaching students? Who better to teach us how to better make that connection than students themselves? Love this and how we can learn from closing our mouths and opening our eyes!
