The Purple Box

Purple Box is a space designed by students for students to be makers everyday by encouraging them to think inside the box, outside the box.

We've seen that students have adapted to being passive consumers rather than active creators. The Purple Box is a maker space where students complete daily interactive design challenges with creative supplies, wacky materials, whiteboards, beanbag chairs, 3D printers, laser cutters, and other technologies.

I love this idea, your pictures remind me of an app called  Roomle (ipad app) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/roomle-3d-home-office/id732050356?mt=8 in allowing kids to redesign space or share ideas for space. Is this space modular--things can be moved around? I'm investigating ways to create a maker cart rather than a maker rom.

Love that everything else is created by students!

Emma and Paula,

When the students are invested in their own space and learning, they will be more committed to the learning. It makes it, ready for a buzz word, more authentic!

"A space designed by students for students... YES!  Transfer the ownership - creativity will emerge freely!

I like that the students will be able to use objects and things to make them think on design and they will be able to bring out their creative side.

Kenyatta,
Thank you. We hope that someday students will have more say in the design of school spaces.

George, we were thinking about the same concept at the same time! I was drawing  while you were posting this. Love when this type of coincidences happen! Would love to collaborate!
