Changing Physical Spaces

How might we redefine the notion of space in our classrooms and schools in order to promote and support innovative cultures? In the Discover phase, we saw examples of the way space can be used as a lever to encourage more self-directed learning and experimentation - including things like a Curiosity Studio and designing the classroom with your students.

Solutions under this mission should showcase the way space can be re-designed, re-purposed, or hacked to help set the stage for a culture of innovation within school and classroom walls.

Consider:

    • What are simple space-related changes that any teacher or school might implement to try to encourage more collaboration or experimentation?

    • What if you had the opportunity to dream big - and redesign the physical space of a teacher room or student space - what would it look like?

Pre-K classes are artfully arranged to facilitate learning through activity spaces and movement. Others would benefit from this too.
