How do we know students are learning? We need to provide opportunities and situations where the learning is visible. How do we do this? By having students express their learning and ideas by speaking, writing, or creating something. And, certainly not by having students sit passively in classrooms. Once we are able to observe learning, then we can provide actionable feedback for students on how to improve and grow. This is not only what we should be doing for students, but what we should also be providing for teachers. Providing actionable feedback for teachers on how to improve their use of instructional strategies has a powerful impact on classroom learning.
