In order to better prepare our students for their entry in to the world outside of the classroom we create an environment that reflects "real world" situations complete with non-planned events and/or circumstances. For example we all develop a class schedule and syllabus before the semester begins just like a business develops a plan at the start of each year. Most often that business plan gets adjusted during the course of the year due to changing circumstances or unforeseen events. Well why don't we don't we create that environment for our students. Change the class schedule mid stream. Mix up the rules of presentation or exam format on short notice. The students don't like it at first but they learn to adapt. In the end they learn through experience rather than reading or listening. And as the saying goes; "experience is our greatest teacher."
