Welcoming School Environment

Change the appearance of the school/classroom so students feel less "trapped" in the plain walls.

  1. Teachers change the appearance of their classroom by adding "comfortable" items such as rugs, posters, and difference colors on walls.
  2. Change the type of chairs students sit in or provide a different option other than sitting at desks in rows. 
  3. Allowing more movement throughout the classroom.

Students feel like they are trapped or in prison because the walls are so bland and many classrooms do not have windows. Many classrooms are set up in standard rows with standard desks and chairs. Students want to see more color in the classroom. Students don't want to sit all of the time. They get "stir crazy".
