Empathy Activity and Reflection

Students drew pictures representing their school experience, and shared their thoughts verbally in circle time sharing.

My students meet for a circle/listening activity almost every morning. So, I first had students share how they felt about their elementary school experiences during circle time, as we discussed how they are almost done with elementary school and getting ready to head off to middle school. I then had them draw their experiences during art, and interviewed a couple of students to get a deeper perspective. I specifically tried to check in with a student who loved school and a student who did not. It was interesting to see and hear their thoughts.
