Students will learn and perform monologues from Howard Zinn's The People's History of the United States/The People Speak/Voices of the People or original monologues to spotlight the history and struggle of minority groups in the US.  Monologue texts are comprised of or based on primary source documents. Students will perform monologues for an audience in the hopes that showcasing the history of these people, which is often overlooked and undertaught, will allow audience members to find parallels in their own experiences,  develop empathy for the struggles of other groups, and, in turn, cultivate a desire to end discrimination of all groups.
