Students share an object of meaning from their life. In groups of 2 they interview each other and then report out.

I've done this in my class to demonstrate how personal artifacts, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, can reveal a rich story about a person and their life.  I ask students to bring in an "artifact" or treasure from their life.  In teams of two, students share the artifacts and the stories.  Then each duo reports out, sharing the story of the other person.  I've been doing this for several years and it never fails to open my eyes to my class and is usually a very touching experience for all.

Hey Caley - great idea. It's really similar to this idea posted by Lane Laney  -- Lane is a teacher in Richland. Where are you located? It might be interesting to team up - even if though you're in different locations, could be a fun way to collaborate and learn.
