Edit 4/3 - the platforms are up and ready for access.  Teachers can access www.certify.DFiNow.org to access any of the 22 lessons for K-12.  See the lesson in action, answer a couple of questions on the content and receive a certificate of completion along with a link to download and use all of the media assets including powerpoint, videos, instructors notes, in-class activities and more.

Final Description - (see below)

Learn, Teach, Share - positive, safe digital life skills.

Teachers end up spending more time researching and curating content than teaching it.  We have packaged digital citizenship, Internet safety, distracted driving and substance use - all built with a foundation of developing emotional intelligence as part of digital intelligence.

There are 22 lessons in all, get only the ones you need and every lesson is updated annually with relevant, recent information that students appreciate.

Digital Futures Initiative (www.DFiNow.org) is a non-profit that provides free, in-class curriculum (lessons, activities, instructor' notes, training/certification) on digital citizenship and relationships.  We provide the necessary tools and training programs for educators, law enforcement (SROs) and parents to help them instruct kids on safer, more responsible internet and mobile use, and to better manage specific problems that can arise—including cyberbullying, sexting, online predators, substance abuse, loss of emotional intelligence, distracted driving and more.

By growing up with devices and online, we need to teach a new set of skills.  What is typically missed though are the skills that we are losing to digital as well.  At DFi, we understand the need to account for the life skills that digital de-couples from our innate abilities to communicate, understand and empathize with others. These “people skills” that we took for granted in the past are now lacking because we don’t get as much practice with them growing up. That is why, in addition to teaching new digital skills of responsible use, accountability and safety online, DFI incorporates emotional intelligence as a foundation in all of the lessons.

Our programs by age:

Elementary - Teachers goto www.DQWorld.net to sign up for a school account using "DFiNow" as the access code.  This is an online, "pokemon" styled program that teaches the important, foundational skills needed for ages 7-12.  10 lessons in total.

Middle School - these are Instructor led experiences with lessons on digital citizenship, relationships and substance use.  Progressive in nature getting more direct the older the students get.  Instructors can access all training material and certification at certify.dfinow.org - then "Sign up", top right hand side.

High School - the same Instructor led approach, but includes lessons on Distracted Driving in addition to Citizenship, Relationships and Substance Use.  certify.dfinow.org is the same access point for all lessons and certification.

Parents - are taught through Instructor led Parent Academies.  All parent academy content can be found at certify.dfinow.org as well.  For hand-outs and additional Parental resources use http://www.dfinow.org/parents-tools-and-resources.html to download additional helpful information.
