With students, explain that immigrants are required to pass a 100-question test about American government that many Americans themselves cannot pass. In fact, several states are considering passing legislation to require all students to pass the same test! Discuss the test, and solicit student perspectives are on it.
Share some of the questions and quiz the class. Ask students if they feel these facts are important or irrelevant and why. Then, have students write their own questions for this test to reflect their experiences. Share their questions using our hashtag #CivicVoices.
