How can we visually display student's process in an exhibition format?

I really enjoy seeing how students problem solve and think. I wonder how student's thinking can be displayed visually? I wonder if these "process" artifacts can be shown as an exhibition?

Such a beautiful idea. A friend of mine had her students create art pieces for their light and shadows unit in science. It was incredibly moving. 

I was just at IDEO's San Francisco headquarters for a coach retreat, and they had this incredible display on one of their walls. It illustrated the design process that IDEO went through in order to design a mattress. I wish I could find a photo online to show you. What was so cool about it is that it revealed the entire process from start to finish - a true project nest. I loved how it made thinking visible. AND it was beautiful!
