Give students the name of the unit before any part is taught. Then allow the students to investigate: jobs and real world applications. This will allow them to research the material a bit to help build a bit of prior knowledge. They will begin to see some of the vocabulary used before they hear it in the classroom. By having them make the connection themselves they will understand the importance of the unit without the teacher having to remind them that they will need the information later on in life.
